It is not finished, and it is not on the App Store. Everything below either works on a phone today or is listed as not built. Nothing in between.
WHAT WORKS TODAY
On a real phone, in somebody's hand. Five things, and they are the five things.
The camera you point at yourself, or the one you point at things
Record on the front camera or the back one, and swap between them.
A teleprompter, in two temperaments
Bullets you tap through at your own pace when you know roughly what you want to say. Or a full script that follows your voice down the page as you read it.
Stop mid-stumble and carry on
Lose the thread halfway through a sentence and you do not start the take again. Stop, and pick it back up from the last word you got right.
A video you already filmed
Bring a clip in from your photo library instead of shooting a new one.
An editor with a take picker
Shot it four times? Choose the one you meant, on the phone.
NOT BUILT YET
Named rather than left out, because leaving them out would imply them.
Watching a take back
Playback inside the app is not working yet. It is the thing being fixed.
Captions
No captions on the phone. Slice burns them in on the web.
Working out the words on the device
Nothing is transcribed on the phone itself.
Pulling short clips out of a long recording
That is the web product. The phone does not do it.
When one of those lands it moves up the page and out of this list. That is the only announcement it gets.
There is no button here that installs anything.
No App Store listing, no TestFlight invite, nothing to sideload. So the ask is an email address instead, and the promise attached to it is small and keepable.
Meet Flint
A block, a corner missing, and the corner.
Slice’s mark is a block with its corner struck off and the corner still in shot, falling clear. It is the icon on the home screen, so it is the mascot too — the same object, with a face on it, and the chip beside it as a character of its own.
A flint core is the one thing that is sharper after a piece comes off it, which is roughly the point of the app. Poke it and it will tell you so itself.

Can I download it yet?
No. There is no App Store listing and no TestFlight build to hand out, so there is nothing to install and nothing to link to. The email list is the only way to hear when that changes.
What can it actually do today?
Record on the front or back camera; run a teleprompter as either tappable bullets or a script that follows your voice; stop mid-stumble and carry on from your last good word; import a video from your photo library; and pick between takes in an editor. That is the whole list.
Does it do captions, or transcribe what I said?
Not on the phone. Neither captions nor on-device transcription is built. Slice does both on the web today.
When is it out?
There is no date, and we would rather say so than invent one. This page is kept in step with what is actually working, so the list above is the honest state of it.
