Slice for agents
Let your AI agent make the clips.
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code hands Slice a long episode, video or audio, and gets back captioned vertical clips and a transcript. Same account, same plan, same clips as the website.
Your first video and first 3 clips are free, no card. Then $14.99 a month.
What an agent can ask Slice to do
Your agent picks the right tool from what you say. Every answer comes back as data it can act on.
“Turn this into clips”
Slice transcribes the whole episode and lists the moments worth posting, each with a title and its opening line.
start_episode“Make clips 2 and 4”
Cuts and captions the ones you picked as vertical videos, and hands back a download link for each.
make_clips“Make the captions bigger”
Changes a clip you already made. "Move them up" and "no title" work too.
restyle_clip“Find clips about goals”
Searches the episode again for a topic or an audience, and adds what it finds to the list.
find_clips_about“What does clip 3 say?”
Reads a clip’s captions, so the agent can write the post from the real words.
read_captions“Transcribe this”
Turns a recording into text with .txt, .srt and .vtt files. 3 a month free.
transcribe_audioConnect Slice in a minute
One address for every app that speaks MCP. You sign in to Slice once, so the clips land in your own account.
You need a paid Claude plan and a Slice account. Claude cannot hand an attached file to Slice yet, so Slice gives you an upload link instead.
Open Connectors
In Settings (or Customize), go to Connectors, choose Add, then "Add custom connector".
Fill in two boxes
Name: Slice. URL: the server address shown here.
Choose "Sign in when needed"
Claude asks you to sign in to Slice the first time a clip tool is used.
Ask for clips
Say "turn my episode into short clips". Claude replies with an upload link: open it, drop your video in, then come back to the chat.

From an RSS feed to scheduled clips
With the API and webhooks, a new episode can turn into clips without anyone opening Slice. Slice does not post for you: the last step hands each file to your scheduler, such as Postiz or Buffer.
A new episode appears in the feed
Your flow (n8n's RSS Feed Trigger, a cron job, a Zap) posts its file link to
POST /api/v1/episodesassource_url.Slice sends episode.ready
When the clip search is done. The event's
datais the same asGET /api/v1/episodes/{id}: each clip's number, title, hook, start and end.Your flow picks the clips
It posts their numbers to
POST /api/v1/episodes/{id}/clips, for example{"clips": [1, 2, 3]}. The first 5 exports are part of the episode price.Slice sends clip.ready for each one
With
data.download_url(good for 7 days) and the title. Pass both to your scheduler.episode.failedandclip.failedtell you when something did not work.
Prompts that work
Plain sentences. These make the right tool obvious to the agent.
What it costs, and the limits
Your Slice plan covers it
Clips made through an agent use the same plan as the website, $14.99 a month. Your first video and first 3 clips are free, no card: the same offer as on the website, not a second one.
Long episodes, video or audio
Up to three hours and 4.5GB an episode. Video, or audio only: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC all work. Give Slice the file itself; it does not take YouTube links.
Transcripts
The first one needs no account. Signed in, 3 a month are free, up to 90 minutes each, shared with the website. Slice Transcribe hour packs cover more.
The transcription API
Free with a key: 90 minutes a file, 2 files a day. Without a key, one file of up to 10 minutes a day. Details on the API page.
The Slice API
The $14.99 plan includes 5 API episodes a month. After that, $5 an hour of episode, by the minute, $1 minimum, which includes finding the clips and 5 exports. Each extra export is $0.25 and each extra clip search $0.50. Credit comes in packs of $10, $25 and $50 (the $50 pack gives $55). Free accounts get test keys and the 3 free transcripts a month. Full details on the developers page.

Questions
Does Slice have an MCP server?
Yes. The address is https://mcp.tryslicemedia.com/mcp. It signs in with OAuth, so any app that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in can connect: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code and others. Clips go into your own Slice account.
Can Claude make clips from a podcast?
Yes, once Slice is added as a connector. Ask for clips and Claude gives you an upload link for the episode, because Claude cannot pass attached files to connectors. Slice finds the moments worth posting, and Claude makes the ones you pick.
Is there an API to make podcast clips?
Yes. The Slice API at https://tryslicemedia.com/api/v1 starts an episode from a link to the video or audio file, lists the clips it finds and makes the ones you pick, with account keys, a free test mode and signed webhooks (episode.ready and clip.ready). The docs are at https://tryslicemedia.com/developers.
Is there a Slice node for n8n?
Not yet. n8n's own HTTP Request node can call the Slice API today, and its Webhook trigger can receive Slice's episode.ready and clip.ready events, so a whole RSS to clips flow works now without a dedicated node.
Can it make clips from an audio-only podcast?
Yes. Give it an MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC file and the clips come out as captioned vertical videos drawn with an audio template, the same as audio episodes made on the website, where you can change the template later.
Does Slice post to TikTok or Instagram?
No. It hands back a download link for each clip. To post on a schedule, pass the links to a scheduler such as Postiz, Buffer or an n8n workflow.
Can I give it a YouTube link?
Not at the moment. Give Slice the file itself, or use the upload link it hands out.
What does Slice see from my chat?
Only what the app sends to Slice: the file, and requests like which clips to make or how to change the captions. Not the rest of your conversation.
