This is the page where we explain what data Slice Studio collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@tryslicemedia.com and we'll fix it.
The short version: we collect the data we need to make our tools work, we don't sell it to anyone, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
Slice Studio is a product of ADIM LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16599511). We build small tools for podcasters and the people who edit them. ADIM LTD is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
Registered office: 121, 1 Didsbury Gate, Houseman Crescent, Manchester, M20 2JP, United Kingdom.
Contact: hello@tryslicemedia.com.
What we collect
There are four buckets:
- Account data. Your email address, name, and (if you sign in with Google) your profile picture. We only see what Google chooses to share with us: name, email, and profile photo. We don't ask for anything else.
- Content you upload. Audio files, video clips, transcripts, captions, images, links, and any text you type into our tools. This is yours; we just store it for you so the tools work.
- Usage data. Pages you visit on our site, buttons you click, the approximate country we guess from your browser's timezone, the browser and device you're using, and how you arrived (referrer, UTM tags). We use this to figure out what's working and what isn't.
- Payment data. If you pay for a plan, Stripe handles your card details. We never see the card number. We only see the subscription status and the email tied to the customer record.
Why we collect it
Different data, different reasons:
- To make the product work. Without an account we can't save your projects. Without your uploads we can't transcribe or render captions. (Legal basis: performance of contract.)
- To improve the product. We look at aggregate usage to see what's popular and what's broken. We never sell this data or share it with advertisers. (Legal basis: legitimate interest.)
- To send you the emails you signed up for. Mostly product updates and things you've explicitly requested. You can unsubscribe any time. (Legal basis: consent.)
- To comply with the law. Tax records, payment receipts, that kind of thing. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted services to actually run the product. Each one handles a specific job. They process your data on our behalf, under contract.
- Supabase: database, authentication, file storage (servers in EU-West-2, London).
- Netlify: website hosting and content delivery.
- Stripe: payment processing.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google (OAuth).
- Anthropic, OpenAI: AI generation for captions, talking points, greetings, and similar features. Inputs are not used to train their models.
- AssemblyAI: transcription of audio you upload.
- Resend: sending transactional emails (password resets, share notifications).
- Fly.io: running our caption-rendering worker.
We do not sell your data. Ever. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
Where the data lives
Most of your data is stored on servers in the UK / EU (Supabase EU-West-2, London). Some processors (Stripe, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, AssemblyAI, Resend) operate from the United States. When data moves outside the UK / EU, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep it
- Active accounts: for as long as you keep using Slice Studio.
- Inactive accounts: after 24 months of no activity we'll email you, and if we don't hear back we delete the account and its content.
- Deleted accounts: we delete the data within 30 days, except for invoices and tax records which UK law requires us to keep for six years.
- Backups: deleted data persists in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being purged.
- Analytics: aggregated, anonymised analytics may be kept indefinitely.
Your rights
If you're in the UK, EU, EEA, or California, you have specific rights over your personal data. You can:
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and the data tied to it.
- Object to processing, or restrict it.
- Receive your data in a portable format (JSON).
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.
- Complain to a supervisory authority (ICO in the UK, your local DPA in the EU).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tryslicemedia.com. We'll respond within 30 days, usually faster.
Cookies and tracking
We use the minimum number of cookies we can get away with:
- Essential cookies: to keep you signed in. Can't be turned off without breaking the product.
- First-party analytics: to count page visits and feature usage. No third-party trackers, no advertising pixels.
We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any tracker that follows you around the internet.
Children
Slice Studio is not intended for anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Security
We do the standard stuff: encryption in transit (HTTPS everywhere), encryption at rest for stored content, hashed passwords, access controls inside the team. No system is bulletproof, but we take it seriously.
If you spot a security issue, please email hello@tryslicemedia.com rather than posting it publicly.
When this policy changes
When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where the change affects you directly, send you an email. Small wording tweaks won't get an email.
