Our take

Frame.io is the gold standard for time-coded video review — Adobe owns it now, and Premiere/After Effects users get it bundled in Creative Cloud for free. For audio-only podcasts it's overkill; for any team doing video podcasts, sponsor reels, or social cuts, the frame-accurate comments save real review time.

In depth

Frame.io is the video review and collaboration platform Adobe acquired in 2021 and has since deeply integrated into the Creative Cloud ecosystem. The core idea is simple: upload a cut, share a link, and reviewers leave comments tied to specific timecodes — with frame-accurate annotations, threaded replies, and approval states that let an editor work through notes without juggling email and Slack.

Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, and Photoshop all have native Frame.io integration now, and Camera to Cloud uploads footage straight from on-set cameras to the cloud for instant access. For video podcast teams, the workflow is genuinely better than what you'd cobble together with Dropbox plus Google Docs comments.

Where it shines is professional video collaboration at scale — agencies, studios, and any team where multiple people need to give specific time-coded feedback on cuts. Creative Cloud subscribers get a free Frame.io tier (two users, 100GB storage, unlimited reviewers), which is generous for solo creators.

Paid tiers add storage, custom branding, share permissions, and team admin. Where it falls short is for audio-only podcasts (audio review can be done with simple shared MP3s and a doc), and for teams already outside the Adobe ecosystem the integration value drops sharply.

Storage tiers also escalate fast if you're sitting on terabytes of raw camera footage. Best for serious video workflows; skip for audio-only.
