Podcast Addict is the long-running power-user app on Android. Direct support for Chromecast, Sonos, Android Auto. Dense interface, but the kind of dense that long-time listeners actually want. iOS users have to look elsewhere.

Podcast Addict is what serious Android listeners have been using for over a decade. The app earned its place by doing all the things that the more design-led competitors leave out: granular per-show settings, deep filtering by status and category, queue management that respects the listener's choices rather than reordering things algorithmically, direct Chromecast and Sonos casting that actually works rather than dropping out mid-episode, and proper Android Auto integration for car listening. It is not pretty, and the interface can feel overwhelming if you only listen to a couple of shows a week and never customise anything. For everyone else, that density is the appeal, and the in-app shortcuts make sense once you've been in the app for a few hours. Podcasters don't really need to do anything specific about Podcast Addict beyond submitting to Apple Podcasts, which is where it pulls its catalogue from. New episodes appear quickly after publishing, sometimes faster than they show up on Apple's own app. Reviews don't really happen here, so it isn't part of any social-proof loop the way Apple is. The only meaningful thing for creators to know is that a non-trivial slice of any Android-heavy audience is listening on Podcast Addict and expecting features like silence trimming, variable speed, sleep timer, and chapters to work correctly, so producing episodes with proper chapter metadata is appreciated.
