Questions

What is a YouTube thumbnail preview tool?
This tool lets you see how your thumbnail will look on YouTube before you upload. You can preview your thumbnail alongside real competing videos to see if it stands out in search results, the home page, and suggested videos.
What is the best YouTube thumbnail size?
YouTube recommends 1280x720 pixels with a minimum width of 640 pixels. The aspect ratio should be 16:9. Keep file size under 2MB and use JPG, GIF, or PNG format.
How do I A/B test my thumbnails?
Upload two different thumbnail designs using the A and B slots. Both will appear in the preview among real YouTube videos, letting you compare which one stands out more. Look for which thumbnail catches your eye first.
Why preview thumbnails with competing videos?
Your thumbnail never appears alone on YouTube. It competes with dozens of others for attention. By previewing your thumbnail among real videos, you can see if it grabs attention or gets lost in the crowd.
Does this tool upload anything to YouTube?
No. Your thumbnails stay in your browser. We only fetch public YouTube data to show you real videos. Your images are never uploaded to any server.
Why test among real videos

Your thumbnail never appears on its own. On the home page, in search and in the suggested column it sits beside a dozen others, and it has a second to win the click.

Seeing it in that crowd, at the size people really see it, shows whether it stands out or disappears. Your images stay in your browser.
