Riverside built its name on local-recording remote interviews — each participant's audio and video records to their device first, then uploads cleanly afterward — and transcription sits on top of that core. Once you have recorded an episode, the platform runs ASR across the multi-track audio, generates a transcript with speaker labels, drafts AI show notes, and produces captioned vertical clips.

For studios already on Riverside, that consolidation is the entire pitch: one upload, one set of credentials, one bill. The transcription engine itself is competent rather than category-leading. Accuracy on clean English is in line with Whisper-class services, and speaker labels work especially well because they map directly to the original recording tracks rather than guessing at diarisation.

Translation covers more than 100 languages off the same transcript. The Standard plan at $19/mo annual unlocks unlimited recording with 5 hours of monthly transcription; Pro at $29/mo annual goes to 15 hours and 4K.

The catch is that paying Riverside money for transcription alone makes no sense — Whisper is cheaper and just as accurate. The case here is workflow consolidation, not the transcript product on its own. If you record elsewhere, ignore the transcription marketing and just use a dedicated ASR.
