VDO.Ninja is the secret weapon of pro streamers — free, peer-to-peer, no signup, and it pipes guest video into OBS like nothing else. The catch is it's deeply technical: no friendly dashboard, dense docs, and you're expected to read URL parameters to configure your session. If you're already past the OBS learning curve this is incredible. If not, it'll bewilder you.

VDO.Ninja is a free, donation-supported, peer-to-peer WebRTC tool built by Steve Seguin that's become the underground favorite for live producers who need to route remote guests into OBS or similar broadcast software. The headline feature is the absence of features in the marketing sense — no plans, no tiers, no signups, no data collection. You generate a guest link, your guest opens it in their browser, and their video and audio flow peer-to-peer into your studio with very low latency (no server hop in roughly 95% of connections). You then composite that source in OBS like any other input. Group rooms have a Director role with per-participant audio/video control, auto-mix modes, and chat. Audio controls run deep: denoise, echo cancellation, auto-gain, custom bitrates, stereo. Free TURN servers are provided by the community when peer-to-peer fails. The trade-off is the experience. There's no friendly onboarding — you're reading docs, fiddling with URL parameters, and Googling reddit threads to figure out the right config. Recording happens in OBS or another tool, not VDO.Ninja itself. Best for technically comfortable streamers and producers already using OBS who want a free guest-routing layer. Wrong fit for non-technical creators or anyone who needs a one-app solution.
