Guide for podcasters

How to post an audio-only podcast on TikTok

TikTok is video only, and your show has no video. That is less of a problem than it sounds: the clips that do well for audio shows are the words on screen with a face or a cover beside them. Here is how to make one and post it.

The short answer

Yes, you can post an audio-only podcast on TikTok, as video. Cut a 30-second to two-minute moment, make it a vertical clip with big captions and your cover art or your faces, then upload it in the app with the Add post + button and Upload. TikTok takes uploads of up to 60 minutes, so length is not the problem; holding a stranger’s attention is.

Can you post a podcast on TikTok?

Yes, as long as it is a video. TikTok’s help pages give the limits:

“Videos you upload in TikTok can be up to 60 minutes long.”
TikTok, TikTok Help Center, as of 8 October 2026
“Videos you record in TikTok can be up to 10 minutes long.”
TikTok, TikTok Help Center, as of 8 October 2026

So a whole episode of under an hour would fit. Almost nobody posts one: TikTok is a feed people swipe through, and the job of a podcast’s TikToks is to stop the swipe with one good moment and send people to the episode.

What podcasters report, both ways:

“I released an episode this weekend (45 min interview) and it has 50 views, TikTok clip from it has 50k”
DMask00, Reddit, r/podcasting, 6 April 2026
“TikTok gave me tons of views and almost zero full episode listens while YouTube Shorts actually moved a few people over to the long stuff.”
theHarshDynamics, Reddit, r/podcasting, 9 August 2026
“what I found was platform matters way more than the clip itself.”
theHarshDynamics, Reddit, r/podcasting, 9 August 2026

Views are easy to come by on TikTok and listeners are harder. Post there for reach and for people to start to recognise the show, and put the same clips on YouTube Shorts, where a link can go straight to the episode.

What to put on screen when there is no camera

The words, first. Big captions make the clip work for anyone scrolling with the sound off. Then something that says whose show it is: the cover art, or the hosts’ and guests’ photos with their names. Here is a real clip with its sound, drawn from the audio alone:

A 24-second clip in the Faces that talk template, with sound. The show, “The Uncluttered Hour”, and its hosts are made up for our examples (stock photos); the voices are real: Simply Us, Episode 39: Creative Hobbies and Minimalism by Simply Us Podcast, CC BY-SA 4.0. Drawn by Slice’s own renderer.

And the same example show three other ways:

Magazine cover

Pull quote

Record sleeve

The same example show in three more templates, silent loops. Same made-up show and stock-photo people, same real CC BY-SA 4.0 voices. See them all on the Slice Audio page.

Podcasters who do this every week mix formats and keep going:

“Mine is audio only but I create waveform videos and text card shorts to promote it. It does take time but growth is steady.”
Hitunhiphit, Reddit, r/podcasting, 26 September 2026

Every clip above came from Slice Audio. Slice Audio: video clips for audio-only podcasts, part of Shorts by Slice. Upload the episode’s audio, and it lists the moments that stand on their own and draws each as a captioned vertical clip, with your cover, colours and, if you like, your hosts’ and guests’ photos. Have video too? Shorts by Slice crops to whoever is talking.

TikTok video size for a podcast clip

TikTok publishes its sizes for ads and for its developer API more clearly than for ordinary posts, so each line below says which it is. From our social video specs, read 2 October 2026; the length is from TikTok’s help page, read 8 October 2026.

TikTok
Shape9:16 recommended. 16:9 and 1:1 are also accepted.
Resolution1080×1920 is common practice. API uploads: 360 px minimum, 4096 px maximum on each side. Ads: at least 540×960 for vertical.
LengthUploads up to 60 minutes; recorded in the app up to 10 minutes.
File typeMP4 (recommended), MOV or WebM; H.264 (recommended), H.265, VP8 or VP9.

Keep the captions out from under TikTok’s buttons with our free TikTok safe zone checker. And caption every clip, whatever else you do:

“If you were making TikTok’s or reels, regardless of what you do, use captions.”

How to upload a podcast clip to TikTok

In the app, tap the Add post + button at the bottom. TikTok’s steps: You can also tap Upload to add videos from your device. Pick the clip, add text or stickers if you want, tap Next, then write the description, add hashtags, tag people, add a link if TikTok offers it to you, choose who can see it, and tap Post. Or tap Drafts to finish it later.

From a computer, click Upload at the top and select the file. One difference: When you upload a video on your web browser, your entire video will be uploaded. To trim on TikTok, use the app; or trim the clip before you upload it.

How to post an audio-only podcast on TikTok, step by step

  1. Pick a moment that stands on its own

Choose 30 seconds to two minutes that make sense to a stranger: a story with a turn, a strong opinion, a clear answer. Start on the line that matters.

  2. Turn it into a vertical video

TikTok has no audio-only post, so give the moment a picture: a 9:16 video with big captions and your cover art or your hosts’ faces. Keep the captions clear of the buttons on the right and the caption at the bottom.

  3. Upload it in the TikTok app

Tap the Add post + button at the bottom, then Upload, and choose the clip from your phone. Add text or stickers if you want, then tap Next.

  4. Write the description and post

Say what the episode is about and where to hear it, add a few hashtags people search for, tag your guest, add a link if you have the option, then tap Post.

  5. Post the next one in a day or two

One clip says little about a show. Post three or four from each episode across the week and judge them together.

Questions

Can you post a podcast on TikTok?

Yes, as a video. TikTok has no audio-only post, so a podcast goes up as video clips: short moments with captions and a picture, your cover art or your faces. Most podcasters post clips, not whole episodes.

How long can a TikTok video be?

TikTok’s help page says videos you upload can be up to 60 minutes long, and videos you record in the app up to 10 minutes. Read 8 October 2026. Short clips are still what most podcasters post.

Can I upload a full podcast episode to TikTok?

An episode of an hour or less fits TikTok’s 60-minute upload limit, and TikTok says a browser upload uploads the entire video. Whether people watch an hour on TikTok is another matter; clips that send them to the episode are the usual route.

What should an audio-only podcast show on TikTok?

The words, big, so the clip works with the sound off, plus something that says whose show it is: your cover art, or the hosts’ and guests’ photos with their names. Waveforms, quote cards and simple animations all work when the moment is good.

What size should a TikTok podcast clip be?

Vertical, 9:16, usually 1080×1920. TikTok publishes these for ads rather than organic posts; see our social video specs (read 2 October 2026) for the sources.

Do TikTok clips bring podcast listeners?

They bring views. Podcasters in r/podcasting report clips getting far more views than the episode, and fewer listeners moving across than from YouTube Shorts. Post them for reach and for people to recognise the show, and link the episode where you can.
