Questions
How many episodes does the average podcast have?
The median podcast has 6 episodes, across 4,391,041 podcasts. 40.9% have 10 or more, 7.5% have 100 or more, and 1.0% have 500 or more.
What does the percentile mean?
The share of podcasts your show is ahead of. “More episodes than 90% of all podcasts” means nine in ten have fewer. Active podcasts, the ones that published in the last 90 days, are a tougher field, so your rank there is usually lower.
Is my podcast in the top 1%?
By episode count, the top 1% of all podcasts have 500 episodes or more; among active podcasts the median is 54. Episode count is not audience, though: this tool cannot see downloads or listeners, and nobody outside your host can.
Why does my show say “1,000+” episodes?
Podcast Index reads the newest 1,000 items of a feed, so for long-running daily shows the count and the start date are floors: the real numbers are bigger.
Why can I not find my show?
The index covers shows that published in the 12 months to 26 September 2026 or have 50 or more episodes, and only shows with an RSS feed in the Podcast Index. A show that started after that date, or lives only on YouTube, is not in it. Try the exact title, or paste your Apple Podcasts link.
From The Podcast Census 2026
The ranks come from The Podcast Census 2026, our count of every podcast in the Podcast Index: 4,391,041 shows, 413,475 active. Data from Podcast Index, 26 September 2026. How it was counted.
