Pulpit AI vs Sermon Shots

Two sermon tools built only for churches. Both turn Sunday’s message into clips and a week of written material; they price it very differently. Here is what each costs, what each makes, and which church each fits.

The short version

Pulpit AI is the cheaper start for one sermon a week ($39 a month for 5 uploads), includes every feature on every plan, and fits churches already on Subsplash. Sermon Shots costs more ($53 to $63 a month to start), takes a YouTube link or livestream, and on Silver and up publishes to Facebook and Instagram. If you only want clips, you may not need either.

Pulpit AI: when it is the right choice

  • Your church already runs on Subsplash.
  • The written material (guides, devotionals, recap emails) matters as much as the clips.
  • Your pastor wants help preparing next week's sermon too.

Watch out for:

  • Priced per upload: 5 a month on Basic, so a church with midweek services or several preachers uses them fast.
  • Its pages talk about uploading files; they do not say it takes a YouTube link.
  • Its pages do not say which languages it covers or how long a recording can be.

Sermon Shots: when it is the right choice

  • You want one tool for the whole week's content, written and video, and the budget allows about $60 a month.
  • You stream through Switcher or Resi and want the sermon to arrive without a download.
  • You want sermons dubbed into other languages.

Watch out for:

  • The entry plan is $63 a month, or $53 billed yearly: about four times Slice, and more than double Sermon Clips or Pulpit AI's Basic.
  • Discussion guides, devotionals and publishing to Facebook and Instagram start on Silver, not Plus.
  • Uploads are capped at 10 hours a month on every paid plan.
  • Its pages do not say which languages its captions cover.

If you only need the clips

Both tools are built around the written material: discussion guides, devotionals, blog posts. If your small groups already have their own material and what you want is three good clips a week, you are paying for things you will not use. Church media teams are also blunt that clips still need a person:

“What doesn't work: auto-posting whatever the AI grabbed with no human pass. Those get scrolled past and the team burns out maintaining them.”
Z-BieG, Reddit, r/churchtech, 19 July 2026
“Something we do at my church for this is to use AI tools (we use opus but there’s many options) to make the clips and then we just choose the best like 3 per week to post..”
daviddoss-jpg, Reddit, r/churchtech, 16 July 2026

Questions

Which is cheaper, Pulpit AI or Sermon Shots?

Pulpit AI: $39 a month for 5 uploads (Basic), $59 for 10, $129 for 25, about 10% less billed yearly. Sermon Shots: $63 a month (Plus), $67 (Silver) or $97 (Gold), or $53, $57 and $87 billed yearly. For one sermon a week, Pulpit AI Basic is the cheaper entry. Read 5 October 2026.

Do Pulpit AI and Sermon Shots make discussion guides?

Both do. Pulpit AI includes discussion guides, devotionals, blog posts, newsletters and a recap email on every plan. Sermon Shots adds discussion guides, 5-day devotionals and blog posts from its Silver plan up, not on Plus.

Can I paste a YouTube link into Pulpit AI?

Its pages talk about uploading files (video, audio, documents and slides) and, for Subsplash churches, using media already in Subsplash. They do not say it takes a YouTube link. Sermon Shots takes YouTube, a file or a livestream.

Which one posts to Facebook and Instagram?

Sermon Shots publishes to Facebook and Instagram on Silver and up. Pulpit AI’s pricing page does not list posting.

Is there a free trial?

Pulpit AI: 2 free uploads, no card. Sermon Shots: 2 free sermon clips, no card, and a 14-day trial on paid plans.

What if we only need clips?

Then you may not need either. Sermon Clips, OpusClip, Choppity and Shorts by Slice (ours) make clips for less; our list of the best sermon clip tools compares them. Slice is $14.99 a month with your first 3 clips free.
