The best podcast hosting, free and cheap.
Eight podcast hosts compared on what decides it: what the free plan really includes, the monthly upload limit, video, how the money from ads and subscriptions is split, and whether you can take your feed with you.
How we chose. We picked eight widely used hosts that either have a free plan or start under about $20 a month, then read each vendor's pricing page and help-centre articles on 2026-10-06 for plans, upload limits, video support, revenue splits and how to redirect your feed when leaving. User quotes come from App Store, Reddit (r/podcasting) and Trustpilot, and each was checked word for word against the page it links to; a quote that could not be checked is not here.
We make Slice, a few of whose tools appear here where they do the job; they are marked “ours”. No tool paid to be listed, and nothing here was tested hands-on.

Questions
Is there truly free podcast hosting?
Yes. Spotify for Creators offers 'unlimited free hosting', and RSS.com's free plan lists unlimited episodes and unlimited audio. Buzzsprout's free plan deletes episodes after 90 days, Podbean's free plan has 5 hours of total storage, and Acast's free Starter plan allows 5 episodes unless the show joins its ad marketplace.
Which hosts give podcasters the biggest share of ad money?
RSS.com says podcasters typically earn 70% of ad revenue. Spotify's Partner Program and Acast's standard creator terms both split ad revenue 50/50. Buzzsprout's 85% figure applies to listener subscriptions, not ads.
Which cheap hosts support video podcasts?
Spotify for Creators (free), Libsyn (video uploads up to 100GB/month on every plan), Buzzsprout's Audio + Video plan ($30/month, or $25/month billed annually), Podbean's Unlimited Plus, RSS.com's Max plan, and Acast's Video plan. Captivate sells Apple-only HLS video as a $12/month add-on, and Transistor's video is in beta for Professional plans and up.
Can I switch hosts later without losing listeners?
Yes. Every host here documents a 301 feed redirect in its help centre or settings. Buzzsprout and Captivate suggest keeping the old account for about three weeks after redirecting, and RSS.com suggests 45-90 days. Transistor says it keeps its redirect in place free even after you cancel.
Do paid hosts charge by storage, hours or downloads?
It varies. Buzzsprout and Libsyn cap upload hours per month, Podbean caps monthly upload size, and Transistor and Captivate charge by monthly downloads, with unlimited uploads.
